In this program, I read some of RUBY STARR and then share book club questions to get the conversation started. I also talk about book clubs and share some tips for how to start one. This program can also feature a Middle Grade classic read by Ruby in her book such as BLACK BEAUTY.

This program is inspired by RUBY STARR’s big imagination. I begin by reading several of Ruby’s imagination bubbles. Then I show the group how to do some exercises to get the imagination flowing. I will select a few students from the group to participate in improvisational techniques for an interactive program.

This program is all about writing. I speak about my journey to become a writer. Then I read from some of my own works. I also share some excerpts from books that inspired me to write for children. From this program, students will learn about the creative process as well as commitment and persistence in following a dream. Following the program is a short Q&A.
