Recently I was asked this question: who is your favorite Avenger? My answer: The Hulk. When I was a child actor, I was fortunate to work on an episode of the television series, The Incredible Hulk. I have recently received a number of emails from fans of the show asking me about my experience acting in the “The Antowuk Horror” episode and working with the Hulk himself.
Here I am as Samantha Bates with the talented and gracious Bill Bixby as David Banner. Bill was especially kind to me and never treated me like a “child actor” but instead treated me with respect as an equal. Lou Ferrigno was generous and welcoming to me. Bill Lucking, who portrayed my father, was also incredibly supportive. I learned a great deal about acting from working with the three of them. I enjoyed the dynamics between the characters and the emotional range of Samantha because she was written as a smart and compassionate character. Truly, it was one of my favorite working experiences because of the cast and crew. The best part of working as an actor is becoming a family with everyone on set. I will always be grateful to everyone I worked with on “The Antowuk Horror” and forever call The Hulk my favorite superhero.
P.S. For those of you who have asked about the cliff scene: Yes, I was afraid. I do not like heights, and even though numerous safety precautions were taken, I was still happy when the scene was over.
